This Filipino runner girl fractured her foot while running and has to wear a fiberglass cast for almost two months. In this third and final installment, Hiraya lies back on her bed, her casted leg front and center — toes and sole in close-up detail. Weeks in the cast have left their mark: her toes show limited mobility from the injury, and the skin on her sole has that telltale dryness from being sealed away so long.
She opens up at length about her injury — how it happened, how it's healed, the cast itself, and how her toes have changed through the process.
Next, she experiments with pulling long socks on over her cast, narrating every sensation as she works the fabric up her rigid leg — a slow, effortful process to get them on, and just as much of a struggle to peel them back off.
Finally, she walks you through her shower routine: carefully sealing the entire cast in plastic wrap to keep it watertight, then standing up on her crutches to show off the finished setup from every angle.
